Turkish Aluminium Profile Manufacturer FAQ Guide

Comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions About Aluminum Profile Sourcing from Türkiye

As an aluminium profile manufacturer, we share frequently asked questions and answers. Our engineering team is ready to answer all your questions. We have been in the aluminium industry for over 30 years. With our family’s experience, we are able to produce the best products. We want you to benefit from this experience and grow your business.

What is aluminium extrusion and how does it work?

Aluminum extrusion is a mechanical manufacturing process where aluminum alloy is pushed through a die to form a specific profile. This process utilizes immense power and high temperatures. The extrusion process allows for the production of complex shapes in a single piece while preserving aluminum’s inherent properties such as lightness, strength, and corrosion resistance.

With 30 years of experience in the aluminium industry, we take the raw material called a billet, cut it, and place it in the press. After heating it, we push it into the die and produce the profile you desire.

When selecting aluminium profiles for architectural projects, the 6000 series alloy is preferred. The 6000 series provides excellent corrosion resistance and surface quality. When treated with static powder coating or anodizing, it maintains its durablity for many years. Another important point is that it is an alloy suitable for extrusion production. Aluminium extrusion machines can produce even complex shapes in rod form with this aluminum alloy.

The 6000 series is the ideal alloy that meets all the common needs of both manufacturers and customers. While other alloys do not fully adapt to surface treatments, all the surfaces desired by the designer can be achieved with this series. This alloy is especially preferred in visible areas such as windows, door, shop windows, and building entrances to ensure a perfect appearance.

6060 and 6063 aluminium alloys are the basis of the extrusion industry. Both alloys belong to the Al-Mg-Si group and are the most famous of the 6000 series alloys. Their suitability for extrusion makes them the darlings of the industry. The only difference between them is a little difference in the ratio of their chemical components. This difference allows the 6063 alloy to have higher strength, while the 6060 alloy enabls the production of profiles with complex shapes. It should never be assumed that 6060 alloy has low strength. The alloy suitable for the production of the desired profile should be selected.

Manufacturers as we and companies using these profiles first determine where the aluminium profile will be used. Will the profile carry a load or should it look aestheticaly pleasing? They choose the alloy accordingly. In fact, both alloys can easily meet both demands. As experienced manufacturers, we determine the application area of the profile chosen by the customer and offer the most suitable alloy and tempering option. In this way, we produce ideal, energy-efficient products.

Of course. Please send us the technical drawings of your custom profiles you would like us to produce. We will review the drawings and tell you if they are suitable for extrusion. Then we will inform you about the die and costs.

If you don’t have drawings, you can also send us an aluminium profile sample. If you wish, you can visit our factory with your samples. Based on my personal experience, I can say that we can produce the exact same profile you want, with the highest quality.

If you want to produce a solid profile, of course there are no limits to the wall thickness. On the other hand, if you are extruding profiles with hollows, it is possible to talk about some limitations. Critical factors such as the aluminium coming out of the die easily, not deforming after exiting, and not disrupting the flow of the aluminium determine the wall thickness limit.

Our customers always consider the wall thickness when purchasing aluminum profiles. Generally, in every sector, there are minimum wall thicknesses they expect from the profiles they use. With our expert design team, we know these expectations very well. We offer our customers the ideal wall thickness suitable for the intended use of the profiles. If you have a special request, we can of course produce a new die specifically for you.

The main difference between T5 and T6 tempers in aluminium alloys is that T6 is harder and has higher strength than T5. The letter T stands for temper. International standards specify heat treatments and application times. As an experienced manufacturer, we apply the processes specified in international standards. In the final stage, we perform hardness control to minimize the margin of error to zero.

Even if our customers don’t specify a preference, we always apply the appropriate heat treatment for the intended use of the desired profile. Unnecessary heat treatments do not necessarily mean a higher quality aluminium profile. Energy efficiency and carbon footprint should also be considered, and the appropriate treatment should be chosen for the intended use.

First, let’s explain the main factor determining the length of the profile in the extrusion process. As you know, mass is conserved in physics. When an aluminium billet is pushed through one side of the die, a profile is formed on the other side. The weight of the billet that has passed through the die is equal to the weight of the profile. We divide this value by the weight of one meter of the profile to determine its maximum length.

The main factor determining the length of aluminium profiles is not our production capabilities, but international transportation. Our customers have specific preferences to ship profiles to their country, easily. We cut and package the profiles according to these preferences.

Yes. In our industry, RAL codes are used for static powder coating on aluminium profiles. If you have a specific color in mind, we can determine its RAL code. Or you can directly specify the RAL code.

In the RAL system, colors starting with 1 represent shades of yellow, 2 represent shades of orange, 3 represent shades of red, 4 represent shades of purple, 5 represent shades of blue, 6 represent shades of green, 7 represent shades of gray, 8 represent shades of brown, and 9 represent shades of white and black.

Turkey has many advantages over most other countries in aluminum profile manufacturing. Our workforce is highly qualified, and our geographical location makes us a logistics hub. This allows us to produce high-quality products and deliver them worldwide.

Our continuous manufacturing allows us to offer very competitive prices. Considering these advantages, choosing Türkiye is a great idea.

Of course you’re welcome to visit. We have two factories, one in Tekirdağ and one in Istanbul. You can visit anytime you like. You’re always welcome to drop by for a cup of tea/coffee. Our door is always open; feel free to stop by anytime.

Die costs are a frequently asked question in the aluminium profile industry. The primary consideration regarding die costs is ensuring that neither party suffers a loss from the production process. As you know, extrusion dies wear out during production, and when they reach the end of their lifespan, a new die must be produced.

Depending on the quantity of profiles requested, we sometimes charge a die fee, and sometimes we don’t charge any at all. This is determined by the volume of the order. If you provide us with information about your order, we will gladly inform you about the die cost.

If all the details are specified in your order and our workload allows, we usually send your proforma invoice within 24 hours. Sometimes our customers provide incomplete information regarding length or surface options. We request the missing information and wait for a response. After clarifying all the details, we, as an aluminium profile manufacturer, we provide our offer quickly.

Yes, we accept payment by letter of credit. After agreeing on your order, we will prepare a proforma invoice. This proforma invoice will contain all the details regarding the export. You will submit this document to your bank and request that a letter of credit be opened for us.

Once we receive the official SWIFT message at our bank, we will complete the production process. When the shipping is complete, we will prepare all the necessary documents for your import. We will deliver these documents to your bank through our bank.

The aluminum profile industry requires a great deal of hard work. As a hardworking and disciplined family, we enjoy our work. Our family has been active in the aluminum sector for over 30 years. This means that aluminum is a part of our lives.

We take a friendly approach to every customer and truly value their requests.

Yes, we can issue A.TR and EUR.1 certificates to countries with which our country has agreements. We can provide these documents to you when exporting. With these documents, you can gain tax advantages if your country has such an agreement.
